Castell i Platja d'Aro és un municipi de Catalunya situat a la comarca del Baix Empordà, amb capital a Platja d'Aro. La denominació oficial amb guionet és lingüísticament incorrecta.El nom oficial prové de l'agrupació dels antics termes de Castell d'Aro i de Platja d'Aro, i s'estén per la part oriental de la vall d'Aro. Castell d'Aro, antigament s'anomenava Castell d'Àreu.
