La Catedral de Lleó és coneguda popularment com la «Pulchra leonina». Fou edificada en un indret estratègic de la ciutat, és una obra mestra dels començaments del gòtic espanyol. Construïda bàsicament entre mitjans del segle xiii i finals del segle xiv, aquest edifici gòtic molt homogeni és l'única catedral d'Espanya que va adoptar el gust francès per les naus altes, allargades i àmpliament il·luminades.
