Costoja és una comuna nord-catalana de la comarca del Vallespir. Joan Becat proposa escriure Custoja, però, en canvi, l'Institut d'Estudis Catalans i la Universitat de Perpinyà Via Domícia es decanten per la forma Costoja.
Està situada a banda i banda de la carena principal dels pirinenca, per la qual cosa en bona part pertany a la conca de la Muga, a la subcomarca de l'Alta Garrotxa, mentre que l'altra part és plenament vallespirenc, de la conca del Tec.
