El monument està situat a prop del Jardí de les Plantes i davant de l' antiga fàbrica de perfums Chiris.
Inaugurat el 1914 , dissenyat pels arquitectes Léon Le Bel i James Warnery, amb un bust de bronze de Léon Chiris a la part superior.
Sota el bust hi ha un grup escultòric de marbre : una dona gran amb el tradicional vestit provençal assenyala el bust a una jove (o potser la seva néta) que porta un ram de flors; les flors probablement simbolitzen el paper de les flors a la perfumeria.
François Antoine Léon Chiris (1839-1900), perfumista i polític local: primer alcalde, després diputat i finalment senador pels Alps Marítims.
Sota el seu lideratge, Maison Chiris es va convertir en una potència mundial de la perfumeria ; entre altres coses, va construir una destil·leria d'estil morisc (“la Mesquita”) a Grasse i una sucursal a Algèria.
