Exeter és un municipi del Regne Unit, que pertany al comtat de Devon, del qual n'és la capital. Cal no confondre el terme municipal d'Exeter amb el districte no metropolità homònim que té major extensió. Situada a la vora de l'Exe, pocs quilòmetres abans de començar el seu estuari, aquesta ciutat que va sorgir d'un campament romà i va prosperar gràcies al negoci de la llana, és actualment un modern centre de serveis.
