Aquest pub del famós barri de Chelsea, va ser molt popular en els anys 70 i 80 sobretot per a ser el primer pub d'ambient gay. Va començar atraient una clientela bohèmia i més tard a clientela gay fins arribar a ser reconegut internacionalment. S’hi podien veure algunes figures conegudes d’aquella época.
Coneguda l'orientació sexual de Mercury, aquest freqüentava el pub com altres famosos de l'època.
Actualment continua sent un pub, però s'anomena The Pembroke.
