A l'oest es troba un santuari especial, el santuari de Demeter Malophoros.
El santuari es troba a poca distància a peu de l'acròpoli, a l'altra banda del riu Modione. És un santuari únic en el sentit que no té igual a la resta del món grec. Per tant, els arqueòlegs creuen que aquest santuari es va crear a partir d'una fusió de tradicions religioses locals sikulianes (sicilianes) i gregues.
El lloc està emmurallat, anomenat temenos, i dins del lloc hi ha una sèrie d'altars i les restes d' un temple dedicat a Demèter Malophoros, un propileu i un aqüeducte que proveïa d'aigua el santuari.
Just al nord del santuari (a la dreta tal com estàs davant d'ell) es van trobar les estructures d'un santuari dedicat a Zeus Meilichios i finalment al sud (esquerra) del santuari es va trobar una altra estructura de temple, d'estil arcaic. Aquest darrer santuari va ser reutilitzat i adaptat pels púnics després de conquerir Selinunte.
