Giresun és una ciutat de Turquia a la costa de la mar Negra, a l'oest de Trebisonda, amb uns vuitanta mil habitants. És la capital de la província de Giresun, amb 6.965 km² i uns cinc-cents cinquanta mil habitants.
Farnàquia o Farnàcia fou una important ciutat de la costa de l'anomenat pont Polemoniac, entre Amisos i Trapezus. Segons Scylax, hi va haver en aquest lloc una colònia grega de Sinope anomenada Khoerades , però ja havia desaparegut al segle i aC. Cal no confondre Choerades amb la ciutat de Kerasos o Cerasus, una mica més a l'est, sovint confosa pels antics autors. A Choerades, van arribar els deu mil de Xenofont després de la seva retirada de Pèrsia.
