Machame Gate és una de les portes d'entrada al parc nacional del mont Kilimanjaro.
També és la ubicació de diverses oficines de l'autoritat del parc (TANAPA - Autoritats del parc nacional de Tanzània) i un punt de partida administratiu per a tots els excursionistes que utilitzen la ruta de trekking de Machame fins al cim.
Cal registrar -se per entrar al parc i pagar l' entrada.
La zona rep molta pluja durant tot l'any. Hi ha uns quants hotels a prop per allotjar-se per a la pujada.
