Washington DC, formalment el Districte de Colúmbia i comunament coneguda com a Washington, és la capital dels Estats Units d'Amèrica, fundada el 16 de juliol de 1790. És l'únic districte federal dels Estats Units. Està situada a la riba del riu Potomac, entre els estats de Virgínia i Maryland.
La població de l'àrea metropolitana de Washington arriba als 4 milions d'habitants . Com a capital dels Estats Units, a Washington s'hi troben la Casa Blanca i el Capitoli . A més de ser seu del govern, és un centre turístic molt important, amb monuments memorials als presidents Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson i George Washington.
