Simon Bening malede i det 16. århundrede "Miniature af den hellige Katarina ved Gravensteen i Gent". Det er en af de ældste fremstillinger af Gravensteen, som fra slutningen af det 12. århundrede til midten af det 14. århundrede var bolig for greverne af Flandern. Gravensteen er den eneste eksisterende middelalderlige borg i Flandern.
