I 1842 fik en bestemt ingeniør De Ridder en koncession til anlægget af en jernbanelinje Antwerpen-Gent. Den første del Antwerpen-Sint-Niklaas blev taget i brug i 1844. Også Beveren fik en station på denne jernbanelinje. Der findes dog ingen billeder af denne bygning. I 1845 stiftede De Ridder Compagnie du chemin de fer d'Anvers à Gand par Saint-Nicolas et Lokeren, forkortet Anvers à Gand, og fra 1847 kunne man også tage til Gent fra Beveren, da hele jernbanelinjen Antwerpen-Gent blev taget i brug. Indtil 1897 havde denne jernbanelinje i stedet for normalspor en sporbredde på 1151 mm.
