Kirken af Laken blev opført af arkitekt Joseph Poelaert i neogotisk stil som et minde om dronning Louis-Marie (1812-1850). Hun var den første dronning af belgierne og var datter af kong Ludvig Filip af Frankrig og dronning Marie Amélie af Bourbon-Sicilien.
