Reservatet Uitkerkse Polder blev oprettet i 1991. I et område på ± 1400 ha er der indtil nu købt 275 ha naturområde. Alle arealer er blevet købt med henblik på opbygningen af et græsreservat med især fokus på engfugle og fugtige, ofte salte græslandsvegetationer.
Groenwaecke er besøgscenteret for naturområdet Uitkerkse Polder.
