Luthern er en politisk kommune i valgkredsen Willisau i canton Luzern i Schweiz. Den består af landsbyerne Hofstatt, Flühlen, Luthern og Luthern Bad samt enkelte gårde. I Luthern Bad ligger den ligeledes navngivne pilgrimsdestination med pilgrimsstedet Maria-Heilbronn.
Kommunen ligger sydvest for Willisau i Luthern-dalen. Kommunens område er 12,2 km langt i nord-syd-retningen og op til 5 km bredt. Den er en af de største kommuner i kantonen Luzern og ligger i det kuperede bakke- og bjergland nord for Napf. Østgrænsen går fra Napf altid nordover, drejer nordøst for Brügglismatt mod vest og følger Warmisbach i sydvestlig retning indtil kantgrænsen til kanton Bern. Kantgrænsen går i sydlig retning til Ahorn. Derfra går grænsen i sydøstlig retning over Gumen, Chatzerschwand, Ober Scheidegg til Höchänzi, langs en ryg. Fra Höchänzi fortsætter det østover over Änzisattel og Niederänzi tilbage til Napf. De høje bjerge, der danner kommunens vest- og sydgrænse, er samtidig kantgrænse til kanton Bern.
