Islisberg nævnes første gang i 1185 som Nidolperhc. I 1305 blev det nævnt som Isbolzberg. I det 13. århundrede var det et Habsburgs forvalterskab. De største jordejere i landsbyen var Muri Kloster, Frauenthal Kloster og Klosteret St. Leodegar i Lucerne. I 1414 fik Bremgarten ret til lav rettergang i landsbyen, en ret som de havde indtil 1797. Efter 1415 udøvede Zürich rettighederne til høj rettergang over Kelleramt, inklusive Islisberg.
Mellem 1360 og 1370 nævnes en kapel i landsbyen. Dette kapel blev indviet i 1937 til St. Antonius af Padua. De katolske indbyggere tilhører menigheden i Lunkhofen, mens de reformerte indbyggere tilhører Bremgarten-Mutschellen menigheden.
