Den velhavende genfanske filantrop Jean-Jacques de Sellon, som ejede ejendommen indtil 1839, gav overnatning på slottet til blandt mange andre politiske flygtninge som Napoleons bror Joseph Bonaparte, Joséphine de Beauharnais, hertugen af Bassano, greven Camille Cavour, Voltaire samt Franz Liszt og George Sand. I 1830 grundlagde de Sellon Society of Peace, en forløber for Folkeforbundet og De Forenede Nations Organisation.
Som en af de største private ejendomme i Schweiz strækker den private ejendom sig over 330.000 kvadratmeter og tilbyder ca. 6.000 m² beboelsesrum. Ejendommen er omgivet af private skove, parker, haver og sine egne Grand Cru vinmarker.
