Kommunen ligger cirka syv kilometer sydvest for byen Kamenz og cirka 35 kilometer nordøst for delstatshovedstaden Dresden. Kommunen ligger i den vestlige Oberlausitz i det vestlausitziske bakkeland og strækker sig over en længde på cirka 13 kilometer, hovedsageligt i dalene ved Haselbach og Pulsnitz.
Fra den i kommunen beliggende station Bischheim-Gersdorf kan man nå Dresden på cirka 45 minutter med regionaltoget.
