Barum er en kommune i Lüneburger Heide i Landkreis Lüneburg, Niedersachsen. Kommunen Barum er medlem af samkommunen Bardowick.
Barum, en by midt i Lüneburger Elbmarsch, ligger centralt i forhold til byerne Lüneburg, Winsen, Lauenburg og Geesthacht samt til Hamburg. Der er cirka seks kilometer til Elben. Landsbyen gennemstrømmes af floden Neetze, som udvider sig sølignende nord for byen og derfor kaldes Barumer See. Fra Neetze afviger Neetzekanalen, som blev bygget i slutningen af det 19. århundrede.
