Borgholzhausen ligger ved en pas i Teutoburger Wald på den nordlige kant af Westfälische Bucht. Centrum ligger cirka en kilometer øst for Johannisegge.
Bjergkæden i Teutoburger Wald adskiller forskellige landskaber på dette sted, således at de nordlige bydele af Borgholzhausen ligger i Ravensberger Hügelland, mens de sydlige ligger i sletten i Ostmünsterland.
