Müglitztal er en kommune i Landkreis Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge, men ligger geografisk set i Erzgebirgsvorland. Den hører til forvaltningsfællesskabet Dohna-Müglitztal. Forvaltningssædet er Weesenstein. Centrum i delstatshovedstaden Dresden ligger 22 kilometer nordvest for Müglitztal.
Kommune Müglitztal, som ligger ved Müglitz, befinder sig bortset fra bydelene Maxen og Burkhardswalde i den navngivne dybt skårne dal i det kuperede forland til Osterzgebirge. Kommunedelene Burkhardswalde og Maxen ligger på en højderyg vest for dalen over Mühlbach.
