Ettal er en lille kommune i den øvre bayerske Landkreis Garmisch-Partenkirchen. De vigtigste seværdigheder er Kloster Ettal og Schloss Linderhof.
Kommunen ligger omkring ti kilometer nord for Garmisch-Partenkirchen i regionen Oberland på Ettaler Sattel, mellem det fem kilometer nordvestligt beliggende Oberammergau i Ammertal og Oberau, som ligger cirka fem kilometer sydøstligt i Loisachtal. Den føderale vej 23 forbinder de nævnte steder. Det grænser op til Ammergebirge. Ettal ligger i Naturpark Ammergauer Alpen. Kommunens område strækker sig i vest-øst retning fra Linderhof over Graswangtal til Ettaler Weidmoos.
