Wertach er med 915 meter over havets overflade den højest beliggende markekommune i Tyskland og ligger i regionen Oberallgäu foden af Grünten ved floden Wertach. Den efter byen opkaldte bjerge er Wertacher Hörnle.
Wertachs kommuneområde består af en enkelt matrikel. Den har elleve officielt navngivne dele: hovedbyen Wertach, landsbyerne Bichel, Enthalb der Ach, Hinterreute og Vorderreute, samt stederne Gereute, Hinterschneid, Oberellegg, Unterellegg og Vorderschneid samt øde stedet Schray.
