Hürth er en mellemstor by tilknyttet en kommune i Rhein-Erft-Kreis, regeringsområde Köln, Nordrhein-Westfalen. Stedet skylder sin opståen den økonomiske og industrielle udvikling af regionen gennem udnyttelsen af brunkulsforekomsterne i det Rhinlandske brunkulsområde ved slutningen af det 19. og begyndelsen af det 20. århundrede, hvilket i 1930 gjorde det nødvendigt at samle dens bydelsdele i en stor kommune. Byens nuværende betydning som placering for kemiindustrien, tjenesteydelser og massemedier skyldes en vellykket omstrukturering og erhvervsfremme efter afslutningen af kulproduktionen i 1988.
