Diepholz er hovedbyen i den ligeså kaldte kommune i det tidligere regeringsområde Hannover i Niedersachsen og den fjerde største by i kommunen. Siden 1994 har Diepholz været en del af bykvartetten, som omfatter byerne Damme, Diepholz, Lohne og Vechta.
Diepholz ligger centralt mellem Bremen, Oldenburg og Osnabrück. Det ligger nordøst for Dammer-bjergene og nord for Dümmer i Diepholzer Moorniederung. Diepholz er den næststørste by efter Syke i den ligeså kaldte kommune.
