Hinterzarten er en kommune og en højdluftkursted i Sydsvarat omkring 25 kilometer øst for Freiburg im Breisgau.
Geografisk strækker Hinterzarten sig fra 1400 m o.h. til næsten op til Feldberg, som med 1493 m o.h. er den højeste top i Schwarzwald, og til den sydvestlige ende af Titisee ved 850 m o.h. Den dybeste punkt er Sternenrank med 740 m o.h. Hinterzarten ligger i Naturpark Südschwarzwald og gennemstrømmes af Zartenbach. Denne kaldes delvist, især i Löffeltal, også Rotbach. Dens vand og bælte er i det mindste til tider rødfarvet.
