Velbert er en stor kommune, der tilhører Mettmann-distriktet i Nordrhein-Westfalen, Tyskland. Den ligger ca. 20 kilometer nordøst for delstaten Nordrhein-Westfalens hovedstad Düsseldorf, 18 kilometer syd for Essen og 12 kilometer nordvest for Wuppertal, på venstre side af Rhinen i Niederbergisches Land og har ca. 82.000 indbyggere.
