Simmerath er en kommune i den tyske byregion Aachen og har 15.498 indbyggere på et areal af 111,01 km².
Simmerath var allerede beboet i romertiden. Fra frankertiden er næsten intet kendt, og først i 1342 blev der nævnt en gård. I 1346 blev Simmerath en sogn, der blev adskilt fra Konzen. Simmerath hørte til grevskabet Montjoie, som fra 1433 hørte til hertugdømmet Jülich.
