Det fyrstehus i Weimar, opført af arkitekten Anton Georg Hauptmann efter planer af den fyrstelige landskapsmester Johann Gottfried Schlegel, blev færdiggjort i 1774. Det skete lige i tide til at huse det Weimarske hof, da Weimar slot i dette år næsten brændte helt ned.
