Ostbachen er en 7,1 km lang venstre biflod til Emscher i Nordrhein-Westfalen. Dens opland dækker 12,405 km² i Hiltrop og i den centrale del af Herne.
Bækken har sin kilde i den sydlige Hellweg-zone og strømmer nordpå mod Emscherland. Den springer ud i Hiltrop, i Bochumer Volkspark, og flyder derefter under Gysenbergs i nordlig retning, hvor den i et stykke tid danner grænsen mellem Bochum og Herne, efter at Mühlenbach er kommet fra Gysenberg. I området ved Revierpark Gysenberg næres bækken i Herne's område af nogle tidligere mølledamme. Den øvre del af bækken og midterløbet op til Ostbachtal-vejen i Herne er blevet renatureret i årene 2003 til 2006.
