Sætningsområdet Altenhof består af de to byggefaser af sætningsområdet Altenhof I, som blev opført mellem 1893 og 1907, og sætningsområdet Altenhof II fra årene 1907 til 1914. Altenhof I ligger i bydelen Rüttenscheid i Essen, Altenhof II i Stadtwald. Begge blev opført af Friedrich Krupp AG for deres tidligere ansatte. På det tidspunkt var det et revolutionerende socialt engagement, at gamle, handicappede og enlige måtte bo her uden husleje. I dag er de stadig eksisterende dele af sætningsområdet Altenhof et vidnesbyrd om historisk sætningsudvikling og tilhører dermed Ruten for industrikultur.
