Königsberg ligger i Gleiberger Land. Bygget på en diabas klippe, er det den højest beliggende bydel i kommunen. Tæt ved Königsberg udspringer to højre bifloder til Lahn, bieber-kildefloden Strupbach mod nord og den umiddelbare tilløb Schwalbenbach mod syd.

Ifølge mundtlig overlevering er Königsberg meget gammel. Ifølge dette skulle den franske konge Childerich I. allerede have bygget en grænsefæstning her omkring år 450 mod alemannerne, men dette er ikke bekræftet.
