Byen lå mellem Stetten og Strümpfelbach. I dag findes der vinmarker der. Tidligere lå der den navngivende Lindhaldenwald, som blev ryddet omkring 1717.
Byen blev første gang nævnt i skrift i 1360. Ifølge en lagerbog fra 1494 var byen ret rummelig. Omkring tiden for trediveårskrigen bestod stedet af cirka 20 gårde. Mange flyttede derefter ned til landsbyen Stetten for at søge tilflugt på slottet. Også pestepidemierne i Schwaben i 1596, 1607 og 1626 bidrog hertil.
