"SANT MARTI EMPURIES" er en smuk middelalderlandsby, der tilhører kommunen Escala og ligger ved siden af havet, som kun ligger cirka 500 m fra de berømte græsk-romerske ruiner i Empúries. Denne idyliske by har en lang historie bag sig, der strækker sig tilbage til det sjette århundrede f.Kr., da grækerne bosatte sig i disse egne. Mellem det ottende og ellevte århundrede var Sant Marti Empuries hovedstad i grevskabet Empúries, indtil greverne besluttede at flytte hovedstaden til Castelló d'Empúries.
