Guadalest ligger ca. en halv time til tre kvarters kørsel fra badebyer ved Costa Blanca som Calpe, Moraira, Altea og Benidorm. Den næsten tusinde år gamle landsby er helt placeret omkring slottet. Slottet, simpelt hen kaldet El Castell de Guadalest, er bygget oven på en klippe. Bemærkelsesværdigt er, udover slottet, det stemningsfulde torv, rådhuset og kirken bygget i barokstil, to museer og den smukke udsigt over dæmningen.
