Kommunen er sammensat af fem landsbyer, La Celle-sur-Nièvre, Mauvrain, Gagy, Saint-Lay og Le Bas de La Celle. Den er omgivet af franske egeskove og ligger i vindistriktet Coteaux Charitois. Den næste nærmeste og større by er La Charité-sur-Loire, 20 km væk, og Nevers, hovedbyen i departementet, ligger cirka 40 km væk.
