Godewaarsvelde er en kommune i den franske Vestkant, i det franske Norddepartement. Kommunen har cirka 2000 indbyggere. I det lokale fransk-flamske dialekt og i Vestkanten tales der om Godsvelde. Stednavnet har en oldnederlandsk oprindelse. Den ældste omtale er fra året 1185 som Godeverdsvelde. Det drejer sig om en sammensætning, hvor det første element er en afledning af et personnavn + suffikset "-velde". Betydningen af stednavnet er så: 'marken til Godeverd'.
