Kapellet ligger 450 m over havets overflade ved foden af Mont Saint-Romain. Det blev opført med udsigt over vinmarkerne i Haut-Mâconnais og Saône-dalen. Det blev bygget på kun fireogtyve timer den 1. maj 1941, på arbejders dag, hvilket gør det specielt og sætter en rekord. Ikke mindre end 600 unge mennesker og gruppeledere fra Chantiers de la jeunesse française de Saône-et-Loire skiftedes til at arbejde hver tredje time for at opføre bygningen. Kapellet er vidt åbent, især mod vest (gennem en stor rundbuearkade). De to sider belyses hver især af brede, let buede rundbuevinduer, og indvendigt er der to vægmalerier. Stor plads foran kapellet.
