Omkring 12.000 fagfolk fra tv- og underholdningsindustrien mødes hver oktober i Cannes for at købe og sælge shows internationalt; men også, og i stigende grad, for at forhandle med de nye platforme. Disse nye aktører er i stigende grad til stede ved begivenheden, såvel som ved MIPTV, søsterbegivenheden til MIPCOM, som finder sted i april.
Det foregår forud for MIPJunior, en begivenhed med visninger og konferencer om tv-indhold rettet mod børn.
