Milano ligger i en dal, Po-dalen. Luftkvaliteten i Milano er bemærkelsesværdigt dårlig. Og det skyldes den geografiske situation. Alperne forhindrer en god luftcirkulation. I 2020 ramte Covid 19 her ekstremt hårdt. En formodning er, at den dårlige luftcirkulation og det mange fine støv kan have noget med det at gøre.
