Lufthavnen er også kendt som Cortina d'Ampezzo Lufthavn og Fiames Lufthavn, fordi den ligger i Fiames frazione.
Lufthavnen blev bygget til Vinter-OL 1956. Den har været lukket for trafik siden en ulykke med et Cessna 206 den 31. maj 1976. Piloten og alle fem passagerer blev dræbt i et styrt straks efter takeoff under svære vindforhold.
