På initiativ af præst Verbunt blev det besluttet i slutningen af 1943 at bygge dette kapel for at blive skånet for katastroferne under krigen og for at opnå fred. Det får sit navn fra det faktum, at Maria i Fatima sagde, at folk skulle bede for fred. Hele landsbyen Kaarschot indsamlede penge til dette formål. Da der ikke var nye sten tilgængelige, blev stenene fra den gamle kirkesti brugt. Den 14. maj 1944 blev dette kapel indviet af præst Verbunt.
