Feldkirchen in Kärnten ist eine Stadtgemeinde und Sitz der Bezirkshauptmannschaft des gleichnamigen Bezirks. Die durch mehrere Gemeindereformen heute 86 Ortschaften umfassende Großgemeinde zählt 14.284 Einwohner und ist damit die fünftgrößte Stadt Kärntens. Feldkirchen wurde um 1065/66 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt und erhielt bereits vor 1176 das Marktprivileg zugesprochen. 1930 wurde die Gemeinde zur Stadt erhoben.
