Weinzierl am Walde ist eine Gemeinde im Bezirk Krems-Land in Niederösterreich mit 1235 Einwohnern . Die Gemeinde liegt am Rand des Weinbaugebietes Kremstal im Waldviertel. Sie weist eine Fläche von 44,55 Quadratkilometern auf und liegt auf 647 m ü. A., gemessen beim Gemeindeamt. Der Name Weinzierl am Walde wurde 1240 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt und leitet sich von einem Beruf, den in Weißenkirchen lebenden Winzern, ab. Bekannt ist Weinzierl am Walde vor allem für die Gudenushöhle, wo nachweislich vor 70.000 Jahren die ständige Wohnstatt einer größeren Gruppe von Neandertalern war. Sie zählt zu den bedeutendsten steinzeitlichen Stätten Mitteleuropas. Oberhalb dieser Höhle befindet sich die Burg Hartenstein, welche vor über 800 Jahren errichtet wurde.
