Hinterstoder ist eine Gemeinde in Oberösterreich im Bezirk Kirchdorf im Traunviertel mit 899 Einwohnern .Hinterstoder liegt auf 599 m Höhe im Traunviertel, im Süden Oberösterreichs an der Grenze zur Steiermark. Die Gemeinde liegt im Stodertal und ist hufeisenförmig von den Bergen des Toten Gebirges umgeben. Die höchste Erhebung ist der Große Priel . Im südlichen Talschluss entspringt die Steyr, die das Gemeindegebiet von Süden nach Norden durchfließt. Der Ort ist über die Stodertal-Landesstraße L552 erreichbar.
