Die Entsorgungsbetriebe Simmering Ges. m. b. H., kurz EbS, wurden 1976 von der Stadt Wien gegründet, welche auch heute noch alleiniger Gesellschafter des Unternehmens ist. Die rund 165 Mitarbeiter des Unternehmens befassen sich heute mit der Reinigung der gesamten Abwässer Wiens.
Im Jahre 1980 gingen die im Auftrag der Stadt gebaute Hauptkläranlage Wien und die Sonderabfall- und Klärschlammbehandlung in Betrieb. Im selben Jahr übernahm die EbS die Leitung der Sonderabfall-, Klärschlammbehandlung- und verbrennung und im Jahre 1986 die Betriebsführung der Hauptkläranlage. Von 1997 bis 2005 wurde die Hauptkläranlage stark erweitert. Im Jahre 2000 wurde die Klärschlamm-, Sonderabfallbehandlung- und verbrennung abgespalten und in die Fernwärme Wien als Werk Simmeringer Haide integriert, welche schon die Müllverbrennungsanlagen betrieb. Das Unternehmen trägt seit dem Jahr 2010 den Namen ebswien hauptkläranlage Ges.m.b.H.
