Heute geht es anfangs richtig zügig voran, denn die Karwendelbahn bzw. Mittenwaldbahn führt einen von Innsbruck zum Bahnhof Hochzirl, von wo aus man sich zu Fuß zum Solsteinhaus aufmacht. Zuerst steil bergan, aber schwierige Passagen warten heute nicht, dafür schöne Wanderungen über Forststraßen, Steige und Karrenwege durch Wälder und über sanfte Almwiesen. Von der idyllischen Solnalm sieht man zum ersten Mal das Solsteinhaus. Dieses liegt auf 1.805 Meter, ist zeitgemäß ausgestattet und man darf sich auf gutbürgerliche Küche und eine warme Dusche freuen. Für jene, die es noch nicht lassen können: Es hat sogar eine eigene Kletterwand!
