Zichem ist natürlich überbekannt als das Dorf, in dem 'De Witte' seine Schavuitenstreiche ausübte. Man kann das Geburtshaus von Ernest Claes, dem Schriftsteller von unter anderem De Witte von Zichem, besuchen.
Zu den anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten dieser Oranjestad gehört die schöne Sint-Eustachiuskirche im Demergotik-Stil. Diese prächtige Kirche besitzt wahrscheinlich das älteste Glasfenster Belgiens (1387).
An den Ufern der Demer kann man ein ganz anderes Denkmal entdecken: den Maagdentoren. Dieser einzigartige runde Donjon, der mit dem typischen rotbraunen Eisensandstein aus der Region gebaut wurde, stammt aus dem 14. Jahrhundert. Dieser Turm diente als Wohn- und Verteidigungsturm für die Herren von Zichem.
