Wannegem ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Ostflandern. Zusammen mit Lede bildet es Wannegem-Lede, eine Teilgemeinde von Kruisem. Wannegem war zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts eine eigenständige Gemeinde und bildet den westlichen Teil der Teilgemeinde. Der Ort wurde bereits im 12. und 13. Jahrhundert erwähnt. Der alte Name hat die Nachsilben -inga und -heem und bedeutet wörtlich Wohnsitz der Leute von Wanhand. Der Ort hing verwaltungsmäßig von der Kastanei Oudenaarde ab. Kirchlich gehörte Wannegem zum Bistum Tournai und seit 1559 zum neu gegründeten Bistum Gent.
