Elen ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Limburg und ein Teilgemeinde von Dilsen-Stokkem. Das Dorf hatte im Jahr 2008 über 2300 Einwohner und ist zuvor nur allmählich gewachsen. Elen liegt im Osten der Provinz, an der niederländischen Grenze und am Fluss Maas. Das Dorf wird erstmals im Jahr 1150 als Hellini erwähnt, dann 1179 als Jelne, 1229 als Heelne und weiter als Eelen und Elen. Hellini könnte abgeleitet sein von Halina, was 'harte trockene Erde' bedeutet, oder von Aljo.
